The Planed Monad

This luxury lamp features a commanding, sculpted base crafted from a solid block of ancient, weathered timber designed to rest flush upon its broad foundation. The piece showcases a dramatic structural dichotomy: the lower left is shaped with clean, flat-planed architectural cuts displaying dense end-grain cross-sections, while the upper bough erupts diagonally into a jagged, heavily fissured natural spire. The timber is enriched with a warm, multi-tonal finish that brings out golden-amber and honey tones along the hand-sanded ridges, beautifully set against deeply shadowed espresso and charcoal crevices. Rising from the lower shelf of the wood is a slender matte black iron stem supporting a classic, wide-angled conical shade in warm flax linen. When illuminated, the light spills down across the jagged wooden crags and smooth cross-cut faces, casting intricate, dynamic shadows across the surface below.
